Mister Rogers arrives with a cassette recorder. After he shows the viewers how to use the machine, Mister Rogers records three different instruments–a xylophone, a drum, and a slide whistle. After playing each instrument individually, Mister Rogers then plays all three instruments simultaneously and asks his viewers to try to hear each instrument. Mister Rogers visits Mr. Negri at his music shop. Mr. Negri shows Mister Rogers the many kinds of instruments in his shop. Mister Rogers records Mr. Negri’s playing of two very different sounding guitars, a classical guitar and an amplified electric guitar. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri plays the classical guitar for King Friday. The king expresses an interest in having the new baby learn to play the guitar. Handyman Negri gives the king a small guitar, and the king appears to know how to play well, having never played before. However, Lady Elaine fools the king by playing a recording of a guitar during the king’s playing. King Friday is angry at Lady Elaine. King Friday requests that Handyman Negri teach the new baby how to play the guitar when he is born.
