Machines can’t sing opera

Mister Rogers explains how Picture Picture works. Omar Moore shows Mister Rogers pictures of machines used by children in school. Mister Rogers says that machines cannot work without people. He explains that the Trolley is a machine. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine shows Reardon a machine that plays a recording of his singing. King Friday asks Reardon to prepare an opera for Friday. Reardon informs the king that machines can’t write operas and that people can’t always be as fast as machines. Back at the house, Mister Rogers pretends that wooden blocks are Lady Elaine’s funny fast film machine as he watches the fast film again. He concludes by explaining that operas are stories told by singing the words.
