Mister Rogers has models of a rooster and a hen. He explains that the rooster is the daddy and the hen is the mommy. She sits on the eggs until they hatch and then protects the chicks. Both hens and roosters have to be fancy to do what they do. Mr. McFeely brings Mister Rogers some real chicks and a hen. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Vincent Anthony shows King Friday XIII several marionettes. They perform for the king. Back with Mister Rogers, he wants to make a chicken marionette out of paper. Judy Rubin shows him some marionettes made by children.
Mister Rogers shows how to make a silhouette of a hand. He has brought a silhouette of a man. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Aberlin is drawing a portrait of Corney. The picture is so like him that he worries that the picture is him. Lady Aberlin shows him that the portrait is just paper. Daniel agrees to pose for her, too. It’s difficult for him to remain still. Lady Aberlin is sympathetic to how hard it is for him. When she is finished she lends Daniel a paper punch and paper. Lady Aberlin puts the portraits together for Sara Saturday in a book. Lady Aberlin is surprised to learn that Sara Saturday is going away for a while. The book will remind her of everyone while she is away. After the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mister Rogers makes a silhouette of the trolley.
Mister Rogers shows how to tie shoes. He talks about the meaning of “disappear.” When sugar is dissolved in water it disappears, but the sweetness of the water indicates that the sugar is still there. When Mister Rogers hides behind a door the sound of his voice indicates that he is still there even though he can’t be seen. Officer Clemmons stops by on his way to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, X and Henrietta talk to Officer Clemmons about Sara Saturday leaving. They thought Sara was always going to stay. Handyman is going to provide an escort with Officer Clemmons. When Handyman Negri and Officer Clemmons ask why she is leaving, the king says it is no one’s business. Sara Saturday says the reason for her leaving is a secret, but she will return. The king agrees that the neighbors should be told that she will return.
Mr. McFeely delivers a counting book to Mister Rogers. He shows the pictures of animals in the book. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Robert Troll, speaking gibberish, introduces himself to Daniel Striped Tiger. He is looking for Sara Saturday. Daniel, unable to understand him or to help him, sends him to Mrs. Frogg, who can’t help him either. In the meantime, Daniel has called Lady Aberlin. She understands Robert Troll and introduces herself, X, and Henrietta to him. He wants to find Sara Saturday because she is the one who tames him. Lady Aberlin asks King Friday to allow them to call Sara Saturday on the phone. Sara Saturday says that Robert Troll should wait in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe until the next day when one of her wise women will be meeting with King Friday. The wise woman will take Robert Troll to Sara Saturday. After the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mister Rogers says that trolls are pretend and reads part of the poem “Jabberwocky” by Lewis Carroll.
Mister Rogers puts on an academic robe and hood. He talks about sometimes being able to tell what a person’s job is by what he wears. Chef Brockett makes cookies shaped like a “T” for Robert Troll. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Chef Brockett gives cookies to Daniel, Mrs. Frogg, Henrietta, X, Corney, and the Trolley. He gives one to Robert Troll, who is very appreciative. Corney and Robert Troll have a conversation, although Corney is unable to understand him. Gloria Onque, one of Sara Saturday’s teachers, is looking for Robert Troll. Henrietta Pussycat asks her if Sara Saturday and the king are going to be married. The wise lady doesn’t know the answer. X tells her how to make an appointment with the king. The wise lady wants to meet with the king in order to get to know him and learn where Robert Troll is. King Friday asks the viewer where the troll is. He is behind X’s tree. The wise lady finds Robert Troll there.
