Mister Rogers visits Brockett’s Bakery and watches him decorate cakes. He enjoys a purple cow drink at the soda fountain.The neighbors make a cake for Harriet Elizabeth Cow, but milk pours out of the sky and destroys the icing.
Mister Rogers shows a picture of a model house built from sugar cubes. Guy Disalvo, who built the sugar house, visits and shows how he makes his models.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Daniel insists that Malcolm is not responsible for spilling milk over Henrietta’s cake. Lady Aberlin asks him about the purple cow he saw. At the Museum-Go-Round, Lady Aberlin finds a purple cow costume. Lady Elaine says that she (Lady Elaine) is important, too, and asks Lady Aberlin who she likes better, Henrietta or Lady Elaine. Mister Rogers talks about how children feel when a new baby comes. He goes to Elsie Neal’s Craft Shop where he sees more sugar art and makes a purple cow puppet.
Mister Rogers builds with small paper boxes. He shows a film of Frances Cole playing the harpsichord at Francois Clemmons’ studio.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Aberlin is dressed as a ballerina. Lady Elaine plays the piano while she dances. Robert Troll pretends he’s a dancer and dances with her.
Mister Rogers demonstrates how rubbings are made with crayons and paper and shows some he had made. He shows a Braille book. Mister Rogers goes to Betty’s Little Theater where preparations have begun for the variety show.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday wants Joey Hollingsworth to teach Prince Tuesday to dance well today. He also wants the prince to be able to read. The king is disappointed when the prince can’t do these things. Lady Aberlin explains that Tuesday must be allowed to be a baby. Lady Aberlin and Joey Hollingsworth teach the king the “Pat with Love” method of teaching. Back with Mister Rogers, he talks about learning and knowing by touch.
Mister Rogers makes designs on a felt board. He goes to Negri’s Music Shop. Joe Negri has a new accordion that Mister Rogers tries. With Mister Rogers on the accordion and Joe on the guitar, they play together.In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Handyman Negri delivers the accordion that Lady Elaine ordered. She plays very well. Lady Elaine goes to Someplace Else to show off. After she is introduced to Harriett, Harriett tells Lady Elaine that she admires her accordion playing and the she wants to see the Museum-Go-Round. Harriett announces she is a “museum cow.” Back with Mister Rogers, he and Joey play so Mr. McFeely can practice his tap dance for the variety show. Mister Rogers buys the accordion. Mrs. McFeely stops by Mister Rogers’ house to ask him to play for her so she can practice her tap dance.
