Mister Rogers talks about spending the weekend with your family. He says he can’t whistle, although he tried to learn for a long time. He has brought several different kinds of whistles with him which he demonstrates. Mr. McFeely brings a slide whistle. Mister Rogers plays it while Mr. McFeely sings. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mr. Anybody is a whistler, and he has several whistles with him which he and Daniel try out. Daniel talks about being whistled to sleep by his mother when he was little. Mrs. Frogg gives Mr. Anybody her best whistle to give to Trolley. X and Henrietta take turns blowing the whistle. After Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mister Rogers wipes off all of his whistles with a handkerchief and puts them away.
Mister Rogers talks about taking care of a sick person and shows medical instruments. Mister Rogers says pretending is a good way to spend time while sick. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Tad Frogg is sick. Nurse Miller asks Grandpere’s machine for an orange, a book, and an airplane for Tad. Dr. Frogg decides Tad needs a shot. Tad is scared, but Nurse Miller gives him his shot before he even realizes what has happened. He thinks it felt like a little pinch. Then she gives him the presents from Grandpere and X brings him a pillow.
Mister Rogers shows how he would play with his toys in bed when he was ill as a child. He reads “The Land of Counterpane,” a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson. Betty Aberlin comes by on roller skates with a pair for Mister Rogers. They skate together. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Tad is feeling much better, but his mother wants him to play at the fountain for a few days. He would like to roller skate, so he and Lady Aberlin pretend to skate at the fountain. X joins their game. He doesn’t know how to skate because he flies. Henrietta no longer skates; now she climbs. When Lady Aberlin goes to show King Friday her skates, she is told that he and Sara Saturday are in the R room listening to records.
Mister Rogers makes drums out of tin cans. Different sizes make different sounds. Edgar Pressley brings his drum set and plays a duet with Mister Rogers on the piano. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mr. Anybody is a one-man band. Henrietta and X offer to play some of the instruments so that Mr. Anybody won’t have to work so hard. They decide to form a neighborhood orchestra and play for King Friday and Sara Saturday. Daniel decides to play the xylophone, Grandpere plays the castanets, and Trolley is going to join in with bell and whistle. All the neighbors are going to practice before the concert tomorrow.
Mister Rogers plays the xylophone while John Costa plays the accordion. Mister Rogers encourages the viewers to clap, whistle, or sing along with the orchestra in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, the neighbors practice for the concert, and the surprise orchestra begins for the King and Queen.
