Mrs. McFeely calls to invite Mister Rogers to come over and see some puppies that she is watching for a neighbor. Later, Mister Rogers talks about how when he needs help, he will ask for it. Then Mister Rogers goes to see the puppies the McFeely’s are taking care of. Mister Rogers shows a video entitled “Different Kinds of Helpers.” In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday and Prince Tuesday are looking at the stars. Prince Tuesday asks King Friday to help him write a poem about the stars, but King Friday says that a prince should never ask for help. Queen Sara Saturday offers to help Prince Tuesday, but he tells her no. Bob Dog stops by with his toy puppy Christopher Jose. Neighbor Aber is vacuuming, and he stops by Lady Elaine’s and Daniel Striped Tiger’s homes. Both Lady Elaine and Daniel seem to be upset by Neighbor Aber’s vacuuming.
Mister Rogers enters carrying a plastic keyboard that plays musical notes. Mister Rogers talks about how teachers help you learn. Mr. McFeely shows up with a video on how vacuum cleaners are made. Later, Mister Rogers goes to Negri’s Music Shop to see Jabali Afrika, a group of singers. The group performs using traditional African instruments and dances. Back at his place, Mister Rogers talks about the world being one big family. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine Fairchilde is having a dream about vacuum cleaners. In her dream she is dancing with a vacuum cleaner and yelling at it. Handyman Negri wakes her up and she tells him she is going to get rid of all the vacuum cleaners. Neighbor Aber shows up and Lady Elaine uses her boomerang magic to make his vacuum cleaner disappear. Handyman Negri asks King Friday if he can talk with him about something.
Mister Rogers tells the TV audience that today they are going to visit Barbara Smith’s new restaurant. Once at the restaurant, Ms. Smith tells Mister Rogers that she has loved cooking for and feeding people ever since she was a young girl. Ms. Smith shows Mister Rogers around her restaurant’s kitchen and introduces him to her head chef, Henry. Later, back at home, Mister Rogers prepares a snack with his friend Justin Miller. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Barbara Smith gives Queen Sara Saturday two commemorative napkins from her restaurant. Edgar Cooke appears, and he and Ms. Smith go off to the royal kitchen to swap cooking secrets. Lady Elaine has a bunch of vacuum sweepers. She tells Lady Aberlin that she is going to get rid of everything that is bad in the world, especially vacuum sweepers. Lady Aberlin thinks that Lady Elaine must be afraid of vacuums.
Mister Rogers draws on a chalkboard before watching a video with Mr. McFeely about how people make chalk. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday tells Lady Aberlin about his prior fear of vacuum cleaners. It turns out that all of the vacuum cleaners in the neighborhood have disappeared. King Friday assigns Lady Aberlin, Mayor Maggie, and Prince Tuesday to find the missing vacuums. Mister Rogers visits the home of Professor Wang to see him write in Chinese calligraphy.
Mister Rogers enters carrying a megaphone. He explains that a megaphone is something that makes your voice bigger. This particular megaphone belongs to his neighbor Marilyn Barnett; she uses it when she teaches big classes. Later, Mister Rogers goes to visit Inner-City Art Center. Here Bob Bates shows Mister Rogers a number of different classrooms where kids are creating art and music. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Purple Panda asks Lady Elaine what she doesn’t like about vacuums. Lady Elaine is afraid of the noise and afraid that she is going to be sucked up like dirt. Lady Aberlin, Mr. Aber, and Purple Panda explain that people are not dirt and can’t be sucked up. Purple Panda tells Lady Elaine that long ago he was afraid of vacuums too, but his purple parents talked to him and showed him how vacuums work and now he is not afraid.
