Mister Rogers arrives with a homemade kit for stringing things together such as empty spools and small beads. He remembers a time that he himself had an operation and stayed in the hospital. Mary Sweenie visits and shows how to do needlepoint, but she must wear glasses. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Cousin Mary Owl and X discover Henrietta is having problems doing her needlepoint. Handyman Negri makes an appointment for Henrietta to see the eye doctor. Handyman Negri gives King Friday the news that the Platypuses are returning Thursday and that the eye doctor is coming to check Henrietta. Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about asking questions of grown-ups and concludes by singing I Like To Take My Time.
Mister Rogers arrives with two model cars which he uses to describe a minor accident he had seen earlier in the day. He talks about how children play to deal with frightening experiences. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Corney and Lady Aberlin leave a car on the Trolley tracks and Trolley runs into it. Corney takes the damaged car back to his factory as Lady Aberlin escorts Dr. Meow Meow Meow to the tree where he examines Henrietta’s eyes. After the examination, Lady Aberlin sings Exercise Your Eyes. After her examination, she does her eye exercises. Mr. McFeely arrives with a delivery from the Platypus family — presents for all — but the package is not to be opened yet. Lady Elaine Fairchilde sees the package and doesn’t know if she can wait to open it. Back at the house, Mister Rogers sings Exercise Your Eyes before he remembers the last time he had his eyes examined by Dr. Mallinger. Mr. McFeely stops by with a curious delivery — a box marked “secret” which he will return for tomorrow.
Mister Rogers arrives with an envelope he found on his porch. Opening the envelope, he finds a cassette tape with a message from Bob Trow instructing Mister Rogers to call a specific phone number. When he calls, Mr. Trow informs him that he is allowed to open the box only after he sings Sometimes People Are Good. Once he sings the song, Mister Rogers opens the package to find a magnifying glass. After demonstrating how the magnifying glass works, Mister Rogers plays a game of “Do You Know What This Is?” with Picture Picture. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Bob Dog is playing with Prince Tuesday and a magnifying glass. King Friday thinks that the magnifying glass makes the prince grow. At the Platypus mound, Lady Elaine Fairchilde starts to open the package when the recorded voice of Dr. Bill Platypus is heard: “This is a recording. If anyone opens this trunk any further, that person will not get a present.” Just then, Mr. McFeely arrives with more presents to be left at the mound and Lady Elaine is certain one must be for her. Back at the house, Mister Rogers thinks about special places before Bob Trow stops by with a large sheet of paper. Mister Rogers lies down on the paper while Mr. Trow traces his outline.
Mister Rogers arrives with Francois Clemmons’ turban and mask. Waiting on the porch for Mr. Clemmons, Mister Rogers thinks about people who like him and encourages viewers to do the same. Mr. Clemmons arrives and completes his costume by putting on the turban and mask before singing a song from an opera. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Grandpere is making pommes frites (French fries) and gives a bag to Francios Clemmons to share. Meanwhile, several neighbors gather at the Platypus mound anticipating the return of the Platypus family. Mr. McFeely delivers a message informing everyone that bad weather has delayed the Platypus family’s return. Francois Clemmons suggests that they have a costume party to occupy their time while they wait. Back at the house, Francois Clemmons suggests having a costume party tomorrow in the real Neighborhood before Betty Aberlin passes by on her way to Chef Brockett’s Bakery. Mister Rogers invites her to be a part of the costume party and extends the invitation to Chef Brockett, as well. Concluding for the day, Mister Rogers talks about disappointment. Betty Aberlin returns with a cupcake from the bakery.
Mister Rogers is dressing up as a pilot for the costume party. He talks about how he used to pretend to be a pilot when he was young and then really learned to fly planes when he was older. Betty Aberlin and Joe Negri arrive in their two-person horse costume, followed by Francois Clemmons and someone in a giraffe costume. After discovering that it is Chef Brockett inside the giraffe costume, the Neighbors enjoy a snack and try to guess what costumes will be worn in Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, everyone is dressed in their special costumes — everyone except Ino A. Horse who prefers not to wear a costume. When a hot air balloon lands, everyone thinks that it is Lady Elaine Fairchilde and Corney dressed in costume as the Platypus family. Elsie Jean is clearly upset when she thinks they have been forgotten. Realizing it really is Dr. Bill and Elsie Jean, everyone is delighted by their return and retires to the castle’s C Room. Back at the house, Mister Rogers reflects on the week and sings I’m Proud of You.
