Mister Rogers has a box with the word “shoe” written all over it. Inside the box are different sized shoes for different sized people. He talks about growing. Mr. McFeely arrives at the door with a large dog that Mister Rogers remembers as a puppy. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Bob Dog wants Daniel to give him a pair of shoes to wear so Queen Sara will like him as much as she likes the prince. Daniel’s shoes are too small, so Bob Dog gets two pairs from Lady Elaine. When Bob Dog visits the queen, she tells him that she likes him, not just the things he wears. Back at the house with Mister Rogers, he talks about the differences between babies and older children.
Mister Rogers makes a hanging tool bench for his tools. He talks about how his father became angry when Mister Rogers, as a boy, would borrow his tools and not return them. Joe Negri brings to Mister Rogers’ house a musical instrument he created out of junkyard pieces. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Corney can’t find his hammer. Lady Elaine is using his hammer at the Museum-Go-Round. Corney becomes angry at Lady Elaine for borrowing the hammer without asking to use it. Back at the house, Mister Rogers visits Joe Negri’s music shop to return the instrument and sees many more instruments made out of recycled materials.
Mister Rogers arrives with nursery rhyme posters that had come in the mail. He is angry that the posters do not have the characters in the pictures. To solve the problem, Mister Rogers has the viewer pretend the characters are in the pictures. Betty Aberlin invites Mister Rogers to the Little Theatre, where the children are acting out various nursery rhymes. On his way back to the house, Mister Rogers runs across Mr. McFeely who loans him a poster of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, King Friday is playing “Old King Cole.” He insists that Lady Aberlin find him three fiddlers. Lady Aberlin, Mr. McFeely, and Fritz Siegal play “Old King Cole’s” fiddler. Back at the house, Mister Rogers is visited by violinist Fritz Siegal who demonstrates his fiddling talents. Mister Rogers talks about music that can represent different feelings. He talks about practice. He also discusses not being allowed to touch certain things.
Mister Rogers arrives with a bag of Japanese records and paint brushes. While playing music, Mister Rogers paints. He talks about expressing feelings through art. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Yoshi Ito sings for King Friday, Queen Sara, and Prince Tuesday. Lady Aberlin introduces Yoshi to the neighbors. Lady Elaine tells Yoshi to save her voice for herself by singing into a bag and holding it shut, saving the music inside. Back with Mister Rogers, he explains that a voice cannot be saved in a bag. Mr. McFeely visits with Amos, a big St. Bernard dog that had been a puppy the last time Mister Rogers had seen him. Mister Rogers talks about growing.
Mister Rogers talks about making a go-cart when he was a boy. He builds one, using wheels from a baby buggy. Bob Trow visits and shows Mister Rogers a pulley and hoist he has built. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Robert Troll installs a pulley and hoist at the Eiffel Tower for Grandpere. Grandpere teaches him some French. They lift a heavy box containing equipment to make pommes frites (french-fried potatoes) which will be for sale next week. Robert Troll announces the sale to the neighborhood. Mister Rogers and Bob Trow go to Brockett’s Bakery where Chef Brockett makes them French fries. Back at the house, Mister Rogers cleans up as he sings I Like to Take My Time.
